Michael has attended the Village Church since 2001, has been on staff at Village Church since 2003, and has been serving as Lead Pastor since 2010. Michael & Breanne have been married since 2003 and have three kids - Elliette, Evia, & Eliex. Michael graduated from Moody Bible Institute with an undergraduate degree in pastoral ministry and from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School with a Masters of Divinity.
His favorite food is Indian food; favorite hobby is being outdoors (walking, hiking, climbing, bicycling); favorite book (other than the Bible) is anything written by Michael Crichton. If he were an animal he would be an Australian Shepherd, because they are fun, focused, protective, and love people.
Tim has attended the Village Church since February 2014 and became the Pastor of Discipleship. Tim and his wife, Rene', have been married since 1982 and in local church ministry since that time. They have two adult married children and a new grandson. Tim graduated from Baptist Bible College with a Bachelor’s degree in pastoral ministries and from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master’s degree in pastoral ministries.
His favorite food is steak and potatoes; favorite hobby is outdoor sports and working with his hands; the Bible is his favorite book; he also enjoys anything written on leadership and discipleship. If he were an animal, he would be a beaver because they are creative, practical, hardworking, and well organized. He enjoys helping others in need.
Haley Versluys has been attending Village Church since January 2017, when she began as Communications Manager. She graduated from Moody Bible Institute with a degree in Counseling and Bible in 2016.
Haley enjoys reading, exploring old bookstores, hiking with friends, listening to other people’s stories, and seeing as much of the world as possible. Her favorite books are Silence by Shusaku Endo and Cry the Beloved Country by Alan Paton. If she had to choose, her favorite food is any type of chocolate ice-cream.
Matt has attended the Village Church since August 2016 when he joined the staff as the Worship Pastor. Matt met his wife, Amanda, when they were both living in Nashville, TN in 2008, and has been blessed to make music and serve with her since that time. They have been married since 2010 and have two active young boys - Micah and Calvin. Matt graduated from Moody Bible Institute with a BA in Theology.
His favorite food is Mexican; his favorite hobbies are music, discussing theology, and playing/watching sports (Go Bears, Blackhawks, Cubs, and Badgers); his favorite book (other than the Bible) changes depending on what he’s currently reading, right now it’s probably a toss-up between Institutes of the Christian Religion by John Calvin, or Studies in the Sermon on the Mount by D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones. If he were an animal he would be Balaam’s donkey because God gave it the ability to speak, and he would hate to go through life unable to converse with others.
Lauren has attended the Village Church since the late 1980's and Matt began attending in 2005. They have been on staff as the Directors of Student and Young Adult Ministries since August 2013. Matt and Lauren were married in December of 2007. Since then they have welcomed 4 kids into their family - Madison, Colton, Weston and Remington. Matt attended Cedarville University for his undergrad, then went on to receive his Masters at the University of Dayton. Lauren graduated from Huntington College with a degree in communications.
Matt is an avid Rocky fan who enjoys eating hamburgers, armwrestling, taking down trees and making beautiful works of art out of wood. In his free time he enjoys training for triathlons and beating his times from the previous years races. He would love to be a tiger so he could always have the "eye of the tiger".
Lauren enjoys Vietnamese food, Moose Tracks ice cream, hiking, camping, skiing, traveling and spending time with her family. If Lauren was an animal she would be a cheetah so she could finally beat Matt in a race.
Bethany has been attending Village Church since birth. She met her husband, Jonathan, while attending Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, MI. They have been married since 2008, and have one son, Oliver, and one daughter, Juniper. Bethany came on staff in 2010 as the Administrative Assistant. She then served as the Connections and Communications Director until December 2016 and transitioned, after the birth of her second child, to her role as Connections Director. She currently works as a desginer.
Her favorite food is Pad Thai; favorite hobby is music; favorite book (other than the Bible) is A Severe Mercy. If she were an animal she would be an otter, because they are friendly, resourceful, and fun-loving.
Alex started attending Village Church, his wife Andrea's home church, in 2015 Alex met Andrea after moving up to the Chicagoland area to attend seminary at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Alex is grateful for the opportunity to serve on Village Church staff and help kids know and love Jesus more.
His favorite food is saucy chicken wings; favorite hobby is barbershop quartet singing; favorite book is Perelandra by C.S. Lewis.
Amanda has attended Village Church since August 2016 when her husband, Matt, joined the staff as the Worship Pastor. Matt and Amanda have two very busy boys, Micah & Calvin, and love being able to serve together and play music together.
Her favorite food is Mexican and favorite hobby is baking & cooking. Amanda loves to read (during those rare quiet moments). Her favorite books (other than the bible) are biographies.
Melanie Marr has been attending Village Church since March 2017 and joined the staff as Connections Director/Office Manager in September 2017.She has been married to her husband Cornelius since 2004, and they have two children - Rohan and Lorelai.Melanie graduated from Elmhurst College with a degree in piano performance, and she has had the joy of combining her love of music and love for the church in numerous ways, both as volunteer and staff.
Melanie loves reading, learning new things, experimenting with recipes, and exploring various towns.She doesn’t do well with choosing favorites, but she does really love Asian food in general.And some of her favorite books are The Count of Monte Cristo, Out of the Silent Planet and the whole set of The Chronicles of Narnia.
